And the award goes to Camp Ripley!

Camp Ripley receives the U.S. Secretary of Defense’s Environmental Award for Natural Resources Conservation.  They will be honored at the annual meeting for the Minnesota Forestry Association on October 5, 2018, at Camp Ripley with a Field Day on October 6, 2018.  Camp Ripley is more than a place where the Army National Guard trains and where veterans are honored at their time of death.  They have numerous wildlife projects and do various forestry management activities on their lands.  The Secretary of Defense Environmental Award was established in 1962 to honor individuals, teams, and installations for their outstanding achievements and innovative environmental practices.  Camp Ripley being recognized for their service to their soldiers and the 53,000 acres that they preserve is both admirable and impressive.  Take a minute to read all the ins and outs of what they do and why they were honored with this award;  Minnesota Army National Guard, Camp Ripley.
